Ohhhhh, having so much FUN can hardly stand it. . . .

Am totally enjoying myself with these painting . . . best of both worlds, IMHO! I get to play with my watercolors and look at it with no glass between too! Hey!!!! Just ordered 12 more 12"x12" canvas . . . guess I'll be doing these for awhile!

One Equine coming up, and have a few dogs possibly running around in my head now as well. Maybe a couple more 'endangered species', and will decide what else as I go.

Very cheery! I've been dyin' to get away from all the plexi and matting w/my w/c's. Care to tell me how you mount and protect your paintings this way? I'd really love to know.

Billie, scroll further down page to early Dec., possibly into Nov. for guide. Any questions please let me know.

Billie, thank you for your emailed question:

In early part of Nov., below, is a 2 part layout on mounting watercolor paper to gallery wrapped canvas. If you wish to read just click to enlarge.

I have worked on gessoed paper as well, and watercolor canvas, Yupo, liquid paper primed canvas, etc., etc., etc., however, none is as exciting to me as working directly on Arches 140 lb. Cold Press or 300 lb. paper. So, with mounting it to gallery wrapped canvas I have found the best of both world, as I said IMHO! Not everyone agrees, and some see this as more work than they wish to undertake.

So, to answer your question: I spray first with an acrylic spray in order to seal and protect painted surface while brushing. After that I continue sealing with several coats of Liquitex Satin Varnish brush on. For me, spray does not allow for the luminous finish that I love. Hope you try it. Acrylic respond well to this same method of sealing as well, btw if you work on paper with Acrylic.

Hope that helps with your question. If not, just let me know.

That answers my question, Vera. Thanks! Was wondering about the painting on the sides. Do you do that right on the primed canvas? Sorry to bug you.

Not bugging me at all Billie, but do not understand what you are meaning about the sides. The paper is Gallery Wrapped around the canvas, so painting is all done on watercolor paper prior to mounting it to the Gallery Wrapped Canvas. If you scroll down to Nov. 4th I believe it is, the blog listing there will tell you how I wrap the paper onto the canvas. It really is not that hard at all once you get the hang of it. Just click on Part 1 or Part 2 to enlarge so you can read, then print for future refer.
